Hundreds turned up last time DentalCare West offered free treatment

An Auckland dentist is again doing his bit to grant Christmas wishes by offering a free day of dental treatment.

Last time 350 people turned out to DentalCare West for the event, with some waiting in line from as early as 3am.

DentalCare West owner Dr Scott Waghorn was blown away by the response.

"I turned up to work an hour-and-a-half early as I always do and almost fell off my chair," he says.

"All the staff were also freaking out, but also very excited at the prospect of being able to help out so many people in one day."

Doors will open at 8am tomorrow, and the first 100 people in line will receive one free basic treatment such as a filling or extraction.

They'll just need to bring two cans of tinned food to donate to Auckland City Mission.

This is awesome but in reality shouldnt be needed in our country. It should be covered under healthcare and people should be able to afford to pay for it. This govt needs to act for our nations teeth.
