Fashion house Dior has dropped star designer John Galliano after he was caught on camera making anti-Semitic comments.

Just days short of Dior's latest collection taking to the runway at Paris Fashion Week, a video has surfaced of what appears to be a drunk Galliano talking to two women in a Paris bar.

Oscar-winner Natalie Portman, who is a high-profile face of Dior, distanced herself from the designer, saying she was proud to be Jewish and she found the outburst disgusting.

Anti-Semitism is illegal in France and carries a maximum penalty of six months in prison.
