After just one weekend at the US box office, Disaster Movie has been voted as the worst film of all time on the IMDb website.

The comedy, which spoofs several of Hollywood's summer films, comes from the filmmakers of Meet the Spartans, Epic Movie and Date Movie - all of which have been severely slammed by critics.

Reviews of Disaster Movie, although savage, are not the worst of the year. Metacritic.com has the film sitting on an average score of 15 (out of 100) based on 10 reviews - compared to The Hottie and the Nottie with a score of 7 and Meet the Spartans which also scores 15.

Owen Gleiberman of Entertainment Weekly rated the film relatively highly with a C+, saying in his review: "It's quite funny..."

Most critics, however, have better represented the IMDb voters.

"This carpet-fouling mongrel of a movie no more deserves release than do anthrax spores," writes Jim Ridley for LA Weekly. In his extremely harsh review Ridley also notes: "In the Adam Sandler vehicle Little Nicky, Hitler spends eternity in Hell in a frilly smock getting pineapples shoved up his butt. Compared to anyone watching Disaster Movie, he got off light."

Glen Faris of Empire states that the film is "a horrific waste of time, money and oxygen."

Other films that feature in IMDb's 100 worst rated films of all time include Paris Hilton feature The Hottie and The Nottie at No. 14, Uwe Boll horror House of the Dead at No. 38, cult hit Troll 2 at No. 46 and John Travolta's sci-fi flop Battlefield Earth at No. 96.

Despite its abysmal reviews, Meet the Spartans was No. 1 at the New Zealand box office the week it opened in January. Disaster Movie is released in New Zealand on October 2.
