Do you think Ann Power should get the horses returned to her?

Eight years ago the SPCA removed 23 of Ann Power's horses because of serious neglect. Now, the High Court has ordered all of the animals be returned. Former SPCA workers and the animal's foster parents say Ann has not changed her ways, Ann says she has. Should Ann get the animals back?

How can the courts even consider it ok to return the animals. I have the llama that was rescued. When he arrived the obvious neglect and cruelty he had endured made him a nervous wreck who was too frightened to leave the fence line. He now is happy, healthy and spends his days sunbathing and looking after his (so he thinks) flock of sheep. It would kill him to leave his happy home.

I Don't think Ann Power should have her horses returned to her being a Horsey person myself I wouldnt ever let my horses get sick with colic or hoard but the thing that made me angry was that the courts want to return her horses when us foster care workers were the ones treating all the stuff ups shes caused when animals were with her

What this person has been charged with is just the tip of the iceberg.I have had the unfortunate position of living next door to this offender and we have had to put up with seeing her pack of dogs feeding on one of her starved horses carcass, diseased sheep dumped in the creek, stock of all manner busting through wherever they could and much more.We managed to get a trespass conviction and most of her animals removed but even then she managed to get a heck of alot back, all to be repeated repeatedly. My sympathies to her current neighbours in Riverhead,i bet you've got a few stories and complaints by now and realize how difficult it is to get proper action.A mix of clever and crazy is what she is and obviously more cunning than the SPCA's high powered legal team.Someone's not doing their job. She'd be number one or right up their anyway as this countries worst animal abuser and she now has the legal right to continue.Bravo

No way should any animal ever be subjected to this woman unabashed cruelty again ....How can we stop these horses going to her ....or for that matter how can we save any other animal from her?

No brainer, Anne Power should never be allowed to own any animal, if she isnt a compulsive lier, then the comment she has made "when they took the horse's they were in show condition" would make her mentally unstable. Hello, they have film footage of the state of the horse's..And what was with the dead horse out her kitchen window, that had sticks placed on it and someone had tried to light a fire?

There is no way on earth that woman should be left unsupervised with animals. She is not mentally well to think those animals were in good condition when they were removed from her. She needs medication and education. Sounds like the Judge might as well!

The horses removed from Ann Power's property should not be returned under any circumstances, this is not her first offence, she is a very devious person I have had dealings with her and have tried in the past to remove a horse of mine from her with no luck. It disgusts me to see the animals she has in her care treated this way and no Judge should allow this to go on any longer history speaks for itself - Ann Power has a great nack of twisting situations around to come out squeaky clean - and what about the animals - so far they have be lucky to have foster care but send them back and their luck will run out once again.

This woman clearly has a mental health problem (animal hoarding). Previous convictions for animal neglect and abuse should prevent her from further animal ownership. The ones she currently owns should have regular spca supervision akin to cyfs social workers keeping an eye on at risk children. Don't give back the horses, instead give Ann Powers a job in an animal rescue centre.

It is totally crazy to even consider giving her back those poor animals. Where is the sanity in that?! She has no right to them, and i completely support the foster carers 'hiding' them from the courts. NZ needs to have a good look at their animal abuse/cruelty laws, they need to be tougher with no 'loopholes'!!

This is outrageous. Of course the horses should NOT be returned - Anne should be prevented from ever owning any animals ever again. This decision is basically a license to abuse animals and get away with it. It is a deep affront to us as Kiwis and who we are and what we stand for - our courts are prepared to condone animal abuse. Just outrageous.

There is no WAY in this world that they should be returned.
