Bevan Docherty returned to the top step of the podium after winning the inaugural Beijing International Triathlon on Monday.
The double Olympic medallist, who was 12th at the London Games, edged ahead of New Zealand-born American Matt Reed on the run to claim his first win since an ITU event in Edmonton, Canada last July.
Fellow Olympian Nicky Samuel was second behind American Sarah Groff in the women's race.
Both athletes will compete in the world championships in Auckland on October 20-21.
