Does Destiny Church's influence concern you?

Destiny Church is reportedly planning to build its own ‘town’ in South Auckland. Are you concerned about its expansion? Do you think the church is a money making scam? Or a genuinely contemporary form of worship?

All I can say is we have a free will and freedom of choice what 1 decides to do with there life let alone money is great and there business. I have heard more successes that come out from that church than failures so if hes saving peoples lives whatever way he does it and they are happy whats the problem Give this guy a BREAK and always remember if you have nothing nice to say sometimes saying nothing works wonders because 1 day it could be your children or family he saves in the sense Think about it GOD IS GREAT

More concerning is the influence that the over-priviledged have over this current government

Has He, or his church broken any of NZ's laws ? People out there, should instead condemn criminals, deviants, druggies, welfare lay-abouts and those hippie scum that keep illegally camping in NZ's main city centre's !

Although this song was written over 25 years ago it certainly could have been penned with Tamaki in mind. Woke up this mornin' turned on my TV set There in livin' color was somethin' I can't forget This man was preachin' at me.. yeah.. layin' on the charm Asking me for 20 with 10,000 on his arm He wore designer clothing and a big smile on his face Selling me salvation while they sang Amazing Grace Asking me for money when he had all the signs of weath Almost wrote a check out.. yeah.. but then I asked myself… Would He wear a pinky ring, would He drive a fancy car Would His wife wear furs and diamonds, would His dressing room have a star If he came back tomorrow there's something I'd like to know Would Jesus wear a rolex on His television show Would Jesus be political if he came back to earth Have his second home in Palm Springs.. yeah.. but try to hide his worth Take money from those poor folks when He comes back again And admit He's talked to all those preachers who said they'd been-a talking to Him Would He wear a pinky ring, would He drive a fancy car Would His wife wear furs and diamonds, would His dressing room have a star If he came back tomorrow there's something I'd like to know Could ya tell me - Would Jesus wear a rolex Would Jesus wear a rolex Would Jesus wear a rolex on His television show Would Jesus wear a rolex on His television show

It would be interesting to know how (what the process is) to get government funding for this "destiny city" because I wonder if they are using current members information/statistics or are they still using information/statistics of those members who have left the church. e.g are they claiming for Maori funding for Maori who have long gone and left that church???

It seems as though his unfortunate childhood, which might have enabled him to offer genuine help to people, has served only to nurture an enormous sense of entitlement. This, combined with a coven of sycophants has combined to produce this ghastly parody of a "caring " organisation. Watch the fellow in action and try not to think psychopath.....

they want govt help to build.ok.as a tax payer and if destiny church will open their financial books from the day they were formed then we can all decide yes or no.personally my answer would be no.audit their accounts.and let them raise the money privately.

Does Destiny Church concern me? No way. They have as much right to do what they do as any other church does or do they. If they want to build a school let them as long as it's cheaper than what the state pays, if they want to build their own homes and pay for it themselves let them. If they want to apply for government funds from the Government let them after all aren't they tax payers to. Most of the churches in NZ receive government funding and most in the millions yet this church isn't allowed to or have to pay for it themselves. Are you sure there's equal rights for all in this country or except if you are a member of Destiny Church. Don't you think we should be building more churches than prisons. After all it costs you and I around $100k per year to keep a prisoner in jail. And aren't most of Brian Tamaki's parishioners ex-prisoners anyway. We have all read that they have to pay 10% of their own money to be there. Let them do it after all it's their freedom of choice. I choose to be with the National Party oh no am I going to hell. Because I'm Maori I probably will because I should be with Labour should't I however I chose to join National. Go for it Destiny I would likely pay less tax with you or any other church fixing our people than with any Government

He must be doing well for his supporters. Why else are his detractors concerned with his activities? Put more energy in recovering misused public money by Mr Allan Hubbard. The size of the SCF bailout $1.0 billion, would make this fraud the largest in New Zealand criminal history.Recover the money and give it to Brian Tamaki to help build his South Auckland church.

I feel physically ill when I hear the words: Destiny Church. It terrifies me that someone like Brian Tamaki has so many followers. Destiny breeds fear and hate. Everything I know about the church leads me to the conclusion that it's a cult. Tamaki targets people who struggle socially and economically. In this recession and with our current government... those people are further maligned and more of them will probably fall into his trap. That's what I find the scariest. If I believed in a god I'd pray that the NZ tax payer does NOT end up paying a cent of contribution to the Tamaki Empire. Any money should go towards improving government social services and education.
