A British dog has miraculously survived a 91 metre fall from a cliff on England's south coast.

The springer spaniel, called Poppy, was on a walk with her owners in Seaford, East Sussex on February 14 when she plunged over the edge of the cliff while chasing a seagull.

Poppy landed in the water and was able to swim to shore.

The three-year-old huddled under the cliff face until a Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) crew came to her rescue.

Poppy sustained a partially collapsed lung but has made a full recovery.

The RNLI has urged all dog owners to keep their pets on a lead when near the cliffs.
