The initial reaction from the Government to the recommendations by the 2025 taskforce have been unwelcoming.

The view seems to be that the plan is too radical, with Prime Minister John Key saying he prefers an incremental approach.

Measures recommended to close the gap between New Zealand and Australia include cutting the top tax rate to 20 to 25 percent, canning the superfund and paying back debt, raising the age for superannuation, and selling all government owned businesses.

Dr Don Brash discussed his recommendations with ASB Business.
