Tyson Hill and Rachel Rasch from TV3's The Block NZ may have lost out in last night's live auction final, but they've won the hearts of many New Zealanders.
Fans have so far donated more than $1200 and a trip to the Gold Coast to the good-natured couple, the only one of the four teams to fail to make a profit when their North Shore properties went under the hammer.
Their renovated property sold for $798,000 – exactly the reserve, meaning they left the show empty-handed.
But Flight Centre has stepped in, arranging a five-day family holiday to the Gold Coast.
Their son Otis said he would be happy if they made $50, but he'll be getting a lot more than that - Target co-host Brooke Howard-Smith is soliciting donations for Rachel and Tyson on Twitter and Facebook, saying he already has over $1200 for the family to spend on their trip across the ditch (details in the link).
"They've worked their ass off, been away from their boy and deserve a little more," Howard-Smith wrote on Twitter. "Spend the $ on a holiday? They would be free to donate the money to a cause if they want, or put it towards their family's future?"
They have also had offers of a guitar for Tyson, cheese, a private movie screening and spa treatments.
Last night's winners were siblings Ben And Libby Crawford. Their house sold for the highest amount – $961.000 – and they walked away with $157,000 in profit and $80,00 in prize money. Watch the final episode on demand on TV3.co.nz.
Hamilton couple Sarah Adams and Richard Boobyer's property sold for $870,000, netting them $64,000. Taranaki couple Ginny Death and Rhys Wineera's property sold for $805k, pocketing them $11,000.
