Kim Dotcom gave a little speech and posed for photographs as he turned on the Christmas lights in Auckland

Internet piracy-accused Kim Dotcom turned on the Christmas lights on Franklin Rd in Auckland last night.

The German immigrant was photographed wearing a Santa hat with Auckland mayor Len Brown at the popular event in the city.

The road in Ponsonby is renowned for the seasonal lights display, which attracts thousands of visitors.

"That was fun. Turned the Xmas lights on at Franklin Road and gave a little speech," Dotcom tweeted.

Last month hundreds of people bought tickets to see Dotcom's rented mansion north of Auckland as part of a school charity fundraiser.

Dotcom, arrested in January, is fighting a United States bid to extradite him to face internet piracy charges.

This guy is a real life hero, he, like most of us, is just looking for the best things in life.
The jealous "bashers" are hilarious, their only source of information is the internet because they have no idea of the facts unless someone posts it up on a webpage somewhere for them to read....LOL hilarious!

In another universe, let's just imagine he has done something wrong....I'm sorry but please explain why he can't turn Xmas lights on with the Mayor while he's still presumed innocent...?

Jealous, yeah you know it

Oh isn't Kim "Shultz"Dotcom such a wonderful man! He has become the Robinhoood of our wildest dreams here in NZ!...Yeah right. He's claiming he's broke and yet he's asking the High Court to release all of his money to pay for his lavish lifestyle and flamboyant expenses and yet he somehow came up with 30 million dollars in "pocket change" cash to purchase the Coatsville "Empire" he was renting. This man was recently "rubbing shoulders" with John Banks (least we forgot about) and now is now rubbing shoulders with the Mayor of Auckland, turning on the Christmas lights of a street in Ponsonby after paying for 650,000$ of fireworks to bribe New Zealander's into thinking he's a demigod unworthy of extradition to the United States to face some very serious US Federal charges. As an example of how shallow many people are here in NZ, including the High Court, many people think that because Dotcom wears a Santa hat that he bought in a 2$ shop, turns on Christmas light bulbs he becomes someone important. Those same people fail to aknowlegde that Dotcom is wanted by the United States Department of Justice for racketerring and copyright infringment allegations.....get real...look at the facts!

People who have a go at Kim for doing things for PR stunts have gotta realise that he is up against the RIAA, FBI and the entire US film, television and music industries......he has got to fight fire with fire to an extent......no one tell a story like the american film industry itself..........? The entire strategy of the case against him is based purely in PR stunts.....there is no real evidence..just a lot of spin....why SHOULDNT he do a few things as part-time PR stunts? It still shows his character........

Well I'm absolutely delighted to see that Dotcom is still in NZ and has not fleed overseas in his waiting helicopter as claimed by the Crown Prosectors during those bail hearings such a long time ago. Don't mention this to John Key - he will have forgotten.

I know what the Dotcoms would like for Xmas and it has 5 letters starting with 'h' Judith Potter. I also know that they have earned the right to be given another item starting with 'h' and it has 4 letters, Nevin Dawson. There are 2 others you are holding who I am sure would like to go home for Christmas. It can be done. Ask Judge Harvey exactly what he meant by "attempting to utilize criminal liability". Alternatively section 38 resolves the matter without prejudice. They could come back again - with evidence, if it exists, but we'll be well prepared should they utilize guns and helicopters a second time
