The wife of internet piracy accused Kim Dotcom wants her $200,000 Mercedes SUV back, despite not having a driver's licence.

Mona Dotcom, 23, has applied to the courts for the return of her belongings seized when her 38-year-old husband was arrested during a raid on their mansion north of Auckland in January.

Dotcom, free on bail awaiting a hearing on his extradition to the US to face the piracy charges, has already been allowed $20,000 a month in living expenses, but now Mrs Dotcom says police should return her belongings.

In papers filed with North Shore District Court she wants her G55 Mercedes Benz returned, which had just 234km on the clock, the New Zealand Herald reports.

Dotcom has revealed in court documents his wife does not have a driver's licence.

She also told the court she wants a 21st birthday present of small and large matching Christian Colin fibre-glass sculptures of a face to be returned. The larger face is valued at $100,000.

Other items include watches, a laptop, iPhone and jewellery case.

Mrs Dotcom said she had no involvement in Megaupload, and she believed her husband's business was above board.

Mrs Dotcom's request also revealed the household costs of the Coatesville mansion, which is home to the couple and their five children and her two young brothers:

  • $6.5 million in modifications to the house.
  • Rent $1 million a year.
  • $600,000 a year to keep the house going.
  • Six staff cost about $29,000 a month.
  • $7000 a month on groceries.
  • Gas for heating and cooking $2000 a month.
  • Electricity $3500 a month.
  • Landline phone calls budgeted at $5000.
  • $1850 a week for lawn mowing.
  • $4200 a week for three full-time gardeners.

These people have been in the illegal downloading business, and should be back in the USA in court.

The issue here isn't whether or not you agree with how they spend their money but how her possessions have been ceased and held along with those belonging to Dotcom. This entire case is a joke and the way was carried out based on little to no evidence is what is really criminal.

What a crock of shit !!!
$1400 per week for each gardener?
I'm in the wrong job.

$1750 per week to feed 9 people?
I could do the same for less than half that!

$1850 a week to keep the lawns cut?
I'd fly up from Invercargill each week and still do it for less.

$1250 per week for phone calls?
Maybe should calling local numbers - they are free...

AND, I want my Merc back - WHY? As she states "I haven't a licence"

The sooner DotCom (and his family) are removed from New Zealand the better.

To CELIA @ #1 : I am surprised that you take such a narrow view. Here is the wife whose property has been summarily confiscated without proof in a court of law or evidence or proper legal procedure. Remember we live in a civilised society which prescribes that one is presumed innocent UNTIL proven guilty! I am sure you will agree if it was YOU who was the aggrieved woman.
