Double fatal crash near Taupo

Two people are dead and two others in hospital after a crash near Rangipo, about 60km south of Taupo, this afternoon.

The crash happened at 1.30pm just south of the intersection of State Highways 1 and 6 at Rangipo, Inspector Earle McIntosh said.

The road would be closed for several hours and diversions were in place.
