There were dramatic scenes in the Kaitaia District Court yesterday as two men who had been pillars of the community appeared in court, accused of child abuse.

police vetting only means people who have already done the time for their crime are picked up. and then they find it near impossible to get a job. then there are snakes like these two who have evaded getting caught, so people think you're safe just because you don't have a conviction.

I don't quite understand care workers teachers have to be screened before they can get a job with children.
Migrating, visa we also have to be screened and any country that you have visited for a long period.
I don't understand how these persons get through, so someone isn't doing their job even scouts,guides leaders etc have to be screened if they are to work with children.
So what is going on?
