New Zealand BMX rider and Olympic silver medallist Sarah Walker says she dreamed she would be beaten by a Columbian rider for gold.
Mariana Pajon of Columbia did end up finishing ahead of Walker in their final BMX race to take the top spot, while Laura Smulders of the Netherlands came in behind Walker to win bronze.
But Walker says she was only concentrating on doing her best on the day.
“I guess the first race wasn’t ideal, but kind of at that point that dream was a distant memory and I just had to focus on what I could do and could control.”
