The new hi-tech Boeing 787 Dreamliner will touch down in Auckland for the first time this morning.

The test plane will enter the Southern Hemisphere with over 30 staff onboard testing it's performance.

International Airline Group General Manager Christoper Luxon says the Dreamliner is geared towards a greater level of passenger comfort.

“It is genuinely a real revolution as an aeroplane,” says Luxon.

“It offers some really tremendous benefits both to our business and customers so I think it’s a really fantastic deal.

“It’s a plane that’s been much anticipated and people have been waiting for a long time, but it’s finally here which is really exciting.”

Air New Zealand passengers will be able to book their flights on the model from early 2014.
