Dunedin cop gets bravery award from UN

A south Dunedin police officer will today receive an award for bravery after saving a man from drowning.

Senior Constable Malcolm Parker will receive a United Nations Courageous Service Award for a dramatic save in Timor-Leste in March.

The humble cop saved an elderly man from drowning in a rapidly rising river.

Senior Constable Parker will be presented with a medal at a ceremony in Dunedin this afternoon.
