The former partner of disgraced broadcaster Tony Veitch is doing voluntary work for domestic violence organisations.

Veitch pleaded guilty in the Auckland District Court in April to assaulting Kristin Dunne-Powell with reckless disregard for her safety. He was fined $10,000, ordered to do 300 hours community work, and placed on supervision for nine months.

Ms Dunne-Powell told today's Herald on Sunday she was campaigning against domestic violence.

"Domestic violence does live in the shadows - it lives in secret, it lives in the dark," she told the newspaper.

"And it lives under threats of not saying anything."

People needed to get out of abusive relationships, whether they were hit once or 100 times.

"Life on the other side of a relationship like that is just so much amazingly better," she said.

"The only good thing I can see coming out of all the bad publicity that has happened is that there is some opportunity to do some good for domestic violence and women."

Andrew this is great news to people like me who have suffered domestic violence. 1. What is your concern about her PR access? 2. If you require specific information why don't you send her an email? THANK YOU 3 NEWS FOR THIS NEWS!

1. Why is this news?
2. How did TV3 come across this information? (hint = PR firm 'Porter Novelli' perhaps?)
3. Is this woman getting free PR? If so, will you disclose this?
