The Greens are labelling the passing of the legislation as 'shameful'

The controversial Emissions Trading Scheme is a step closer to being law after it passed its second reading in parliament last night.

The Government has the numbers to pass the legislation after striking a deal with the Maori Party, which includes a $25 million forestry deal for iwi.

But National's other support partner Act is voting against the bill.

Parliament will resume under urgency this morning and it's expected the legislation will be enacted late tomorrow.

The Greens are labelling the passing of the legislation 'shameful' - for New Zealand's 100 percent pure image.

Russel Norman says the Green Party will be putting up a number of amendments today to make the bill more transparent.

It's quite ironical that all New Zealanders are being warned against scams taking place in this country at present, and yet the majority cannot see the biggest scam of all is happening right now in NZ Parliament.

When did NZ vote Mugabe into power here. This is the sort of scam he would come up with, and then tell his people, I am the Leader, do what I say and to hell with you little people. Key and his Maori mates have shot themselves in the foot Big Time.

We will all live to regret this hasty legislation. There is no benefit whatsoever for the environment. The Maori party is laughing all the way to the bank.

This will be a Maori ETS - they will want it changed, because it breached the Treaty of Waitangi, and thus they will demand even more compensation.

Considering the recent release of emails showing that the climate change science is actually junk science and completely unscientific, we need not actually be concerned about global warming, its been cooling for the last 15 years!
Just the data has been manipulated!

I heard that when they say 25 million they really mean 25 million a year for the next 70 years.

Is this correct?

If so this is another example of poor reporting and tv3 should publish the full amount that these 5 "iwi" are going to recieve.
