I was at an amusment arcade in Osaka back in 2000 which had a curved projection in a cheap ride giving a larger continuous view - ie much better than this 3 flat projections.

It is 12 years back, but I think it was about 9 mtrs long projection on the curve. ie it would give a much more realistic view. If they could do that 12 years ago for a cheap amusment ride in an arcade, they can probably make a better simulator for just about anything. I dont think the screen projection was high tech/costly, just innovative to give the curved wrap-around projection. Have my own ideas on how they could have done it, but the curved projection surface looked to be a fabric to me, even felt like fabric. I'm guessing back projection as I didn't see any projectors at the front.

Bah its not the fear of dying that scares me, its what unafforable damage it might do.
