A series of earthquakes have rocked Fiordland tonight.

The largest of the quakes measured at 5.9 on the Richter scale at struck the region at 8:31pm. It was centred 120km north-west of Te Anau.

Earlier this evening a 4.8 magnitude tremor shook the region at 7:07pm, following a 5.2 magnitude quake at 4:24pm.

The tremors are part of a series of quakes that have shaken Fiordland since last month's 7.8 magnitude earthquake.

It would be nice if GNS could put up a special site for info on Big event Quakes, when the Earth shakes as much as it does in Fiordland it's nice to see whats going on.
