Twenty-eight years ago two Kiwi blokes and a hot blonde became New Zealand cinematic legends when they drove from Kaitaia to Invercargill in a yellow Mini.

The film was Goodbye Pork Pie and their route, if not their hair-raising adventure, has been copied many times over the years.

On Monday another Mini will be travelling the length of the country, on a mission which is likely to be just as tough as the 1981 original.
