"The Eden Park Trust Board was meant to pay for the range of new equipment but income is down, so now it cannot afford it". Surely they were under contract to pay. Get a bank loan and stop sucking the teat of the ratepayers. Can someone please grow a backbone and sort this out.

NO! NO! NO! As a rate payer I TOTALLY OPPOSE being expected to bail out these idiots who can't properly plan and budget for such an event and won't put their hands in their own pockets for their own sport! The RU's contribution of a measly $10M is an insult to ALL New Zealander's. It is THEIR World Cup, THEY wanted it but THEY DON'T WANT TO PAY FOR IT! NO! NO! NO! Let them get a loan and pay it off from their "4 million supporters". That's right, they only get 12,000 to a game at Eden Park IF THEY'RE LUCKY! That clearly shows the level of support for this, so called, National Sport! Let the Rugby Union pay for this fiasco. They're the ones who pushed for it fully expecting everyone else to pay for it. I, for one, WILL NOT! I have no interest in Union and will not be watching ANY matches or buying any souveniers. If JB or any other of the Not So Super City wannabees think they can push this onto the ratepayers then they'd better start looking for other jobs come this October!

I've all ready paid a levy on this years rates for this fiasco, and I'm not a rugby supported. Bet the new Supa-City will slap this onto every rate-payer and in this case I will fight paying for their over-sight.

Why does the NZRU not put more money up front? They are the ones who wanted the world cup of rugby here.

How about the board of Eden Park taking a pay cut?

With John Banks “I’m going to go to the mayoral forum to seek advice, consultation and support for a solution to help this funding gap be realised,” says Auckland City Mayor John Banks." This is just another cost the rate payers will pick up.
