Elderly pedestrian dies in Hamilton

An elderly woman has died after being struck by a car in suburban Hamilton.
The woman, believed to be aged 77, died after being hit by a BMW driven by a man in his late teens in the northern suburb of Rototuna, about 7km from the city centre.
She was taken to Waikato Hospital with critical injuries but died a short time later.
The driver, who stopped at the scene, is assisting police with inquiries.
