As if the Garden of Eden were floating on water its creator Lebanese designer Elie Saab set sail his new spring/summer Haute Couture collection today at the Palace of Chaillot in Paris. Saab opened a door to refined innocence mingled with the delicacy of a Monet inspired water colour as his models floated down the silver runway.

There were clouds of tulle, blending lace, prints on organza and silk chiffon. The models had lovely mermaid like braids through soft bouncing curls.

Pastel colours were the key here at Saab as they have been a dominating force for many of the designers this season in Paris. Dresses were enveloped in transparent mother-of-pearl petals, sequin flowers and dewdrop-inspired motifs.

Elie Saab opened his first atelier in Lebanon in 1982. He debuted his Haute Couture collection in 1998 during Alta Moda Fashion week in Rome. The Lebanese designer then arrived in Paris in 2000 and has made a steady climb to success. After three years of showing his first Haute Couture collection in the city, he was invited by the Chambre Syndicale to become a member of the official calendar. Since this time he dressed some of the worlds greatest talent including Christina Aguilera, Beyonce, Catherine Zeta Jones. Most notably, Halle Berry the year she won the Academy Award for Best Actress for Monster's Ball.
