The CTV building before and after February's quake

The engineer employed to assess the structural integrity of the CTV building in Christchurch, will give evidence at the royal commission today.

The inquiry is focussing on building reports that deemed it safe, following September’s first earthquake, just months before it collapsed, killing 115 people.

This morning, engineer David Coatsworth will explain his findings to the inquiry after he was hired to asses the building, nine days after September’s original earthquake.

The commission has heard that Mr Coatsworth completed his report and ticked off the building without seeing any structural drawings.
