England football captain John Terry may be relieved of his role as captain after revelations surfaced that he had an affair with a team-mates girlfriend. Even if the revelations are true – should this be grounds to lose the captaincy? What are your thoughts?

i do beleive the best man for captaincy sould captain the team regardless of what he has done. but if he has lost the respect of his team mates then maybe he isnt the best man for the job anymore? i think the players on his team should decide...

Leadership on and off the field - that is what the role encompasses so I agree with Robbie 100%.
The trust he requires from the team has been compromised and he should be held accountable for his actions. If he wished to pursue happiness with his mate's girlfirend - well its just not cricket is it??

What a goose..integrity both on and off the field is a high quality that yields respect for you as a leader..of anything.
If you can promise your wife and children that you will love and respect them for the rest of your life, then promise god in front of a priest in a church that you'll do the same..then go and piss on all of that..and stab one of your team mates in the back..what sort of piece of sh*t are you worth? as a husband, a father, a man..let alone a captain and leader of a nation?
This is the type of person England want to lead them on the world stage..i'll leave this comment at that..what a dog.

Yet another sports person being knocked for something that has nothing whatsoever about their sporting ability and the farcical situation of outsiders using the hackneyed phrase role model to push their view. If he's any sort of role model its as a leader of his team and motivator not anything else. Surely thats what you choose a captain for - not where he can be trusted with your mates ex-girlfriend. And it also perpetuates the age old prejudice of male and female roles - it takes two to cheat how could he "steal" the girl she was surely a willing party?

This is crap, alot of sports stars have affairs you cant just fire him of his captaincy, just because of one or two bad decisions should make him lose his captaincy. They should forget about personal lives and focus on the game, he is still a brilliant captain and PLAYER!!!

Is anyone else sick and tired of hearing about these pathetic men who are incapable of self control?

Sound judgement Kathy?! Hardly! If he had sound judgement he would be healing the problems in his own life and geting it back on track rather than stealing his teammates girl.

How can his team have any respect for him now? They are probably wondering whose wife/partner he will be hitting on next.

The fact this has blown up so big is the problem..this will be in the back of peoples mind in the dressing room as the media continues to chat about it.Inorder for the team to play well and move forward they may need to push this issue to the side and choose a new captain...the world cup may not be far enough away for this to blow over sufficiently..he is the best captain no doubt...but u need 100% respect and willingness from your players and he may not command that anymore with other strong personalities around him

No he should keep the captaincy as he has shown a high level of emotional intelligence; his judgement is sound and he will be more of an asset to the english football team as a contented man. We all have a duty to pursue happiness. I wish him all the best.
