Deputy Prime Minister Bill English will head to the US in the coming week for the 19th Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) leaders' meeting.

Mr English will join leaders from 21 APEC economies on November 13 in Honolulu to discuss the region's economic growth prospects.

Leaders will also talk about ways to advance APEC's vision for an Asia-Pacific-wide Free Trade Area.

APEC initiatives would make it "easier, cheaper and faster for New Zealand companies to do business in the region", Mr English said.

He is scheduled to leave for Honolulu on Friday.

Foreign Minister Murray McCully and Trade Minister Tim Groser will also travel to Hawaii to attend ministerial meetings as part of the leaders' week, running from November 8-13.

Mr McCully is to leave for Honolulu on Thursday and Mr Groser on Tuesday.

It appears that johnmillan has his head buriedvin the sand, or maybe he just refuses to accept reality. The National Party will not be dumped. In fact lots and lots of opinion polls are telling us that they are the number one choice for 50 percent or more New Zealanders, with the joke of a Labour Party in second place way back at about 30 percent. And I think in the latest poll results I saw John Key was preferred Prime Minister for about 57% and Phil Goff was just behind him at about 14%.

These sort of get togethers are a farce,a glorified holiday at tax payers expense.
What has english done for the economy of nz except shaft it totally.
I agree the world leaders should embrace modern technology especialy when so many countries are suffering because of leaders opulanceifestyles and wasteful spending of tax payers money, english surely should not representing nz at apec when he cant even manage the nz economy resulting in 3 credit downgrades,he should be hiding behind a door.
He will be happy though he wont have to answer any questions, his other nat politicians avoid fronting up to the voters in nz and those ones should not get a pass mark.

Why dont all the National Party fly out too Hawaii and have a good tax payers supplied holiday before being dumped. This is utter crap when they have been pushing and spending millions on fast internet, why not make use of it as all they will talk about can be done on internet, and save hundreds of thousands of tax payers dollars that we have seen in the past 3 years by this Nat government. Also how many times has Key used a helicopter to get around NZ that costs thousands a hour too run.
