Claire Danes was terrified pairing up with hunky actor Zac Efron for upcoming film Me and Orson Welles - because she was constantly forced to fend off mobs of lusty teen fans.

The actress, who counts Leonardo DiCaprio and Jared Leto among her previous leading men, insists she's never seen anything like Efron's magnetising effect on legions of screaming girls.

And after playing Efron's lover in the period drama, Danes admits she was still awestruck by the throngs of devotees yearning to catch a glimpse of the 22-year-old.

She explains, "He's like, really famous. It's different. It's wild. I've never seen a person have that kind of effect on many, many teenagers. It was crazy, there were girls camped outside of our hotel room for days, literally chanting, 'We want Zac!' It was kind of terrifying."
