AC/DC are preparing to take to the stage at 9pm tonight.
They’ve cooled off after playing two shows in Wellington playing to around 35000 fans each night.
Tonight they'll play to around 60000.
Like moths to a flame: it was black tee shirts to an inflatable, horny hat, soundcheck blaring in the background at Western Springs Stadium.
15 minutes away, in downtown Auckland it was much the same.
A local busker said he is excited about the band’s arrival.
“I saw them when I was 9. About this tall. It was my first concert, I could smell the explosions” he said.
AC/DC fans clearly have something to look forward to. The band's two Wellington shows received rave reviews, and some fans were so happy they've posted their experiences on YouTube.
This afternoon record store Real Groovy was running low on anything and everything AC/DC.
A Real Groovy worker said AC/DC shoppers are coming in thick and fast.
“Lot of people coming from out of town, stocks flying out door, we're having an emergency stock of tee shirts coming in.”
It’s not really a surprise. AC/DC have sold over 200 million CDs since they formed, that's 70 million more than U2.
Even Auckland Mayor John Banks was getting into the spirit of things bonding with bogans who are waiting for the show to start.
Many of them have been at Western Springs since 10am this morning.
And while the show hasn't quite sold out, around 60,000 ticketholders are expecting to be thunderstruck.
