Sporting diamonds on her ring finger, Rachel Hunter played it very coy when asked if she was engaged,
“I'm here to read to the kids,” she laughs.
But the couple were unable to disguise their happiness.
This is the first time Rachel’s boy friend, 26-year-old Canadian ice hockey player Jarret Stoll, has visited New Zealand.
He told 3 News the proposal was a romantic one, but that no date had been set.
Her long time manager Kiwi Andy Hayden also confirmed the news.
“We are all delighted for her,” he says.
Along with Hunter's two children, the newly engaged pair were visiting the Waikato school of Hautapu.
Stoll and Hunter's son Liam watched on as she read her favourite Beatrix Potter book to a classroom of new entrants.
Hunter is here to launch a new reading initiative. Tip Top and the Storylines Trust are donating $50,000 worth of books to primary schools around the country, in a bid to promote the reading of books out loud.
After school was out Hunter donned red bands and went farming. Visiting a local dairy farm and getting her fair share of congratulatory kisses on the way.
Hunter and Stoll head home to Los Angeles in a few days. A heartfelt farewell hug was reserved for the other special man in her life, her dad.
