Apart from everything else, with the BP oil spill, national party and their supposed greediness, at the end of the day, like everyone else they are doing their job as leaders of New Zealand, looking out for the economy, looking at what is right for NZ and how it can push us forward as a competitive country, however as we all know weather u like it or not, when the word and cultural essence behind 'Maori' is spoken of we are bringing a new dimension to this problem we have. Its not that we want to feel special or want to be seen differently its just that it would effect everything that has been set up, for the past so many generations especially on the east coast. So it would give more jobs, who cares, find another way, instead of breaking what has been for so long, instead of effecting the waters that everyone enjoys, instead of having a big ugly rig sitting at your door step. Find another way, if you have been to the east coast before you would know how beautiful it is, not just the sea but the people for they are who keep the true essence of whanaungatanga and who for so long through out everything that has happend in Maori history, have been able to hold onto their lands, their mana and their dignity, but so easily will be lost. Looking back in history (for it is important) i dont mean to be dramatic, but is this goin to be a replay of what happend in the north? everyone losing control of what happens? it is likely and i think it is best that everyone treads carefully and thoughtfully, because this is not just now but many generations to come. This is not just oil and petrol, this is in fact water ways, sea life, sea beds, people, generations and the sustainment of all things that we know are important to.

On News talk ZB the other day. The Labour spokesperson Annete King stated clearly to Mike Hosking that 'Labour supported what National was doing and would do the same thing as it will help the economy and gives Jobs' - so why just the anti National comments ? or are people just one eyed, negative and hypocritical of National no matter what ? Of course all the anti oil drilling people who are moaning walk to work and live in caves.

Lightseed should remember that BP promised to protect the environment around the Gulf of Mexcio and we can all see what is happening there, they haven't got a clue how to repair the damaged they have done. It doesn't bear thinking about the damage such a disaster would do to our coastline if such a thing happened here.

So if we don't want these guys exploring because of the risks should we then shut down all the other oil rigs because they pose the same risk? We make over $900 million exporting this stuff, just how are we supposed to pay for everything if we stop making money? It doesn't grow on trees!
