New Zealand's No.1 tennis player Marina Erakovic has lost in straight sets in the second round of singles at Wimbledon.
Erakovic, ranked 49th in the world, lost to the 21st seed from Italy, Roberta Vinci 6-4 6-3.
Although Erakovic had a first serve percentage in the 70s, with five aces, she also had more break points, 12 in total, against her serve with Vinci converting five of them.
Erakovic had five opportunities to break Vinci, managing to convert two of them.
The Kiwi hit more winners, 26 in total, but had 10 unforced errors while her opponent managed 22 winners and five unforced errors.
Erakovic will be playing singles at Wimbledon again in a few weeks when the Olympics will be held at the same venue.
