New Zealand No.1 Marina Erakovic crashed out of the women's Olympic tennis tournament at the first hurdle at Wimbledon.

The 24-year-old Aucklander lost 6-2 6-1 to Canadian Aleksandra Wozniak.

Her match was held over for a day after rain disrupted proceedings on Sunday but she spent a little over an hour on Court 19 at Aorangi Park against her 24-year-old rival ranked 54th in the world, eight places below Erakovic.

A late confirmation for the Olympics, Erakovic made 25 unforced errors and failed to convert any of her four break point opportunities to lose at the same stage as she did at the Beijing Olympics.
