New Zealand real estate agents are painting an optimistic picture of farming in this country in a bid to attract Britons with the money to purchase farms here.

Bayleys Realty is mounting a roadshow to tour different regions of Britain encourage farmers to buy into a "buoyant rural economy'" the Press newspaper in York reported.

"Our website traffic data records that about 22 percent of international hits on the Bayleys website come from viewers in the UK," the company's marketing manager, Richard Graham, told the newspaper.

"This figure has been growing during the past few years."

Mr Graham said several economic indicators were now pointing toward a favourable New Zealand property investment scenario for UK residents, including record pay-outs for dairy farmers, and a recovering beef and lamb sector.

"From a foreign exchange perspective, some eight years of a high-valued New Zealand dollar against the British pound is coming to an end, adding to the attractiveness of New Zealand farms as business opportunities," he said.

Mr Graham said this coincided with sky-rocketing rural land prices in Britain and an increasingly difficult and frustrating regulatory environment for British farmers.

The company will take its roadshow to North Yorkshire in October.

In the sale of rural land of 5ha or more, special land ,river or tidal, historic, islands etc, to foreign buyers is concerned-all such deals must be approved by the Overseas Investment Office. In the past many subversive ways have been found to influence this process. Why dont we ban the sale of all land but permit life time[95yr]leaseing.

So how does this differ from selling our land to China?
The only difference I can see is that dishonest, so-called New Zealander intermediaries are not being used to conduct the transaction.
