Former professional cricketer Andrew Crook is the new general manager of netball's trans-Tasman ANZ Championship.

Crook replaces Anthony Everard, who resigned earlier this year to take up a position as league manager with Cricket Australia's new Twenty20 Big Bash competition.

The Australia-born Crook is a former professional cricketer for the South Australian Redbacks and also played county cricket for Northamptonshire and Lancashire.

He is currently working as general manager of England Netball's Superleague, and has a background in sponsorship, marketing and strategic planning in sport management.

Crook says he is looking forward to the challenge of leading the ANZ Championship's future development. He takes up the role on February 7.

The 2012 season begins on March 31, with the official pre-season tournament in Tauranga on March 2-4.
