The memorial service for the victims of the Christchurch earthquake took place in North Hagley Park today, on the anniversary of the quake.

Governor-General Sir Jerry Mateparae, Prime Minister John Key and Christchurch Mayor Bob Parker all spoke during the ceremony, which began at noon today.

Two minutes of silence were held in remembrance of the quake victims, those who were injured, and those whose lives have been changed forever.
