@Anon how are they putting others at risk? If they are under age and have bought a fake id, then they probably wont drive. If they drink too much well thats bad, but you can just get alcohol by other means and get drunk at a park or house party with a far bigger risk off getting mugged and beaten up. They aren't endangering anyone else's lives at all. Alot of adults forget their childhood and what it was like being a teenager. I certainly hope I can hold onto my memories and not forget, taking it out on my kids and being harsh on them.

Im a teen and i know a few people that have fake i.d's including me . The main reason we use them for is for fun , is that to much to ask for ? clubbing in a safe club with security etc is safer then teenagers partying with knifes and what not . You all say that its our fault and we know the consequences but the fact of the matter is , we have nothing better to do , we are treating like kids and yet we are young adults making mistakes and learning from them . We need to look at getting us teens into something that involves a safe enviroment for us to drink in and have fun at the same time . While the government is servere on fake i.d's there are at least 5x more people selling/taking P . that kills and yet they do not have control over it , yet we are critised for having safe fun ? take a good look at yourself and others before you stereotype us !

I am 17. Alot of my friends frequently go out to town, some even four times a week. I myself have never been and for a while I felt really left out, probably a reason many teens feel pressured into getting a fake. Alot of my friends go out with real ids . . it just isn't their's. I myself have been pressured to use another friend of mine's id, they assume blonde hair blue eyes, it would work.
When I hear of all the stupid things my friends do and how vulnerable they make thenselves especially when it comes to unwanted sexual conduct, I feel thankful that I have a valid reason not to go out with them.
Another point is that young women do not need money to go out. they simply use their charm . . .along with very short skirts and low tops to get other guys to buy them drinks. This makes the situation even the more dangerous for them.
I think people my age are definately at a limbo in their social lives, they want to feel mature ect and go out as they feel they have grown out of previous activities. But all the things we learnt about date rape and everything in year 10 obviously never sunk in.
I think it is great that the police are cracking down on fake ids.

okay so im turning 18 soon and i have had a fake id for about a year. parents are oblivious to the fact of what your children are doing, but being harsh and unreasonable will just lead them to rebal. then you and your child will have no relationship at all. to the comment from jay, i have i job, and if i want to buy alcohole my mother doesnt supply it for me, why do you think all teenagers are so small minded and stupid? you are just being sterotypical. no im not an idiot i know the consequence very well of clubing and drinking underage however for some reason it doesnt stop me?. because im clubbing underage doesnt mean im going to get in my car and drink drive and kill someone. i actually dont drink at all. clubs are safer than going to parties, anyone here about augustine? or the countless amount of stabbings and fights at parties? most people are driving drunk home from them anyway. and please, there have been countless adults speeding and drink driving because they "know better." as many as the other comments have said every teenager knows how to get them, someone will know someone whose eighteen that looks like them. and i know many 18 year olds willing to sell their licences to underaged persons. your not going to stop this problem, why dont you go help the starving families in africa and the corrupt government. bigger problems in life than a few teenagers trying to be older and just have fun.

ive been their done tht, im 18 nw with my own i.d its easy to gt in to clubs, but i feel sorry for people who are 18 and have their own i.d and gt refused beacuase they think its fake, ive lived the days of having fake i.ds takin off of u, but the worse was a bouncer in a club in auckland city askin for 60bux to give my fake i.d back and if i didn't come up with the money he'd give it to the cops thats sad! its a massive industry, the Hospitality Association say that is going to bring them down in the industry while they will lose profit on the fake i.d holders that i would say drink hell of a lot on the town, speaking from my own experience you just have to have a few answer to bouncer questions and your through the door,

Lets be realistic about this. I am a teenager from hamilton, and as far as I know it, there are no venues for 16 and 17 years old to go out for a night out. This is the age when social networking is the main priority in life, and to provide teenagers with no way to achieve this, we have to come up with other ideas, as irrisponsible as they are, be it binge drinking parties, boy racing, and fake id's to get into night clubs. If i was a parent, i would encourage my child to get a fake id, on the agreement that they only purchase a couple of drinks at a club, and keep me updated via text as to when they leave the club so i can pick them up. The clubs are a much safer environment than anywhere else; alcohol can not be sold to intoxicated people, bouncers are EVERYWHERE in case of a fight, disagreement, or if anyone needs help, and unless you are outside the club on the street, you cannot get taken advantage of. To all of those parents that think this is horrible, I bet your child has gone to some parties where events have happened that would never ever occur in a club. Drugs in clubs is non-existant, most teenagers parties have the familiar air of weed smoke. Before you point the finger and accuse people, get out of your bloody vintage negative mind frame, and consider why they are doing what they doing, and how their ideas and reasoning is possibly genious compared to your idiotic reasoning. Done =]

Im a school student and can name at least 3 people in each surrounding school of mine who make them. Its funny how oblivious parents, cops and majority of adults are to the situation. Notice how ur kid always seems to be spending the night at a friends, or 'im going to a party but will stay the night there'... yea there in town, hitting the clubs with some randoms id or one some genious made for them. and the bouncers dont even care. cant blame the kids, there just having a fun time, and cant blame the parents, they have no clue what their children are up to on a friday and saturday night. blame the bouncers who let it happen. look at ur lisence now, and look how detailed it is... well some kid has gona to all that effort to copy it. its pretty smart.

its there own fault for buying the fake i.ds most kids are old enough to know what the consequences are... so why is this such a big deal? teens are just wanting to have fun and experience the adult life... think back when u were a teenager... if u had the chance of purchasing a fake i.d im sure you would of done it too. if they make mistakes then its their own fault... you learn from your mistakes. Yes, it is wrong to make fake i.ds but come on.. they are just kids.
