Police are trying to track down a person who falsely claimed a passenger on an Air New Zealand flight was carrying a bomb.

The caller phoned Auckland police, saying the man would soon be boarding a Brisbane-bound plane.

Inspector Peter Raynes says by the time the passenger was identified, the aircraft had already departed.

The plane landed safely in Brisbane at 7pm last night New Zealand time.

The caller could face charges for making a false statement.

A bomb hoax is a shitty thing to do. But hey if you falsely accuse someone of abusing children because you now will have to and you aren't sure but still you would have to, will you be charged with making a false claim? I know its different but the principal is the same. Lives will be damaged all the same. And the way legislation is going prepay phones will be outlawed so you can be traced. That happens now when you call 111, you are very identifyable in this environment of government intervention. Even this email and others i have submitted are supposedly anonymous, they will be kept to pass on to the authorities should they require it. Maybe the person did think that person had a bomb, but to call it in once the plane had left is just bad timing.
