The family of a young boy who was attacked around the throat by a dog have thanked road workers to came to help him.

The dog attacked the three-year-old yesterday afternoon and it is believed that the dog was trying to get the chocolate the boy was eating.

The boy was bitten in the throat area and three men working outside the Ashburton house where the attack took place gave first aid to him, before he was taken to hospital.

The toddler is still in a critical but stable condition in Christchurch hospital and the dog has been put down at the family’s request.

What amazing strength this family has that they can thank those who helped their young son, especially in the midst of their own pain and anguish. I sincerely hope that their young son has a full recovery and that the whole family will recover from this accidental tragedy. Kia kaha with aroha.
