The Real Estate Institute says a healthy trend is emerging as farm sales rise.

Sales were up 66 percent in the December quarter, with eight regions recording an increase.

Brian Peacocke, the rural spokesperson for the Real Estate Institute, says sales are positive across the board.

“We saw consolidation of the activity on both dairy farms, fattening finishing type farms which are sheep and beef, and the grazing type properties aswell,” says Mr Peacocke.

Brian Peacocke says the market is seeing a boost in the number of overseas buyers.

How on earth can Brian Peacocke call it a healthy trend when OVERSEAS buyers come in to buy up NZ land? Most of these are corporates. I would call it a dangerous trend.
