So he’s gone and left us to find a deadly worm – the Mongolian Death Worm to be precise.

3 News entertainment reporter David Farrier has left for the Mongolian Gobi desert to find this potentially non-existent creature that has been a fascination of his and other cryptozoologists for years.

What do we know about it:

It is red.

1.5m long.

A worm.

It is deadly – according to anecdotal reports it can shoot sulphuric acid from its mouth and lightning bolts from its rear end.

Farrier is confident that the worm exists and is hoping to get it on camera. He has set up a great website documenting his quest and watch this space for a story about his travels when he returns.

James Murray's blog
We are increasingly using new forms of media to get our news. From the news websites of television stations and newspapers to blogs and social networking sites, information has never been so readily available.

Views on the news looks at the stories at the cutting edge of the media.
