It's Father's Day this Sunday, and to celebrate Statistics New Zealand has released some interesting dad-related facts.
For example, in 2009 140 Kiwi men got the gift of new life, becoming dads again, or for the first time.
The average age of a new arrival's dad is 32, and only one in 100 newborns have a dad aged 50 years or older. New fathers are on average two years older than the mothers, and only one-quarter of all mothers are older than the fathers.
Almost a third of all new fathers were born overseas – about 8 percent from Samoa, Tonga or Fiji, and 6 percent from the UK.
But perhaps most importantly, 85 percent of all dads are satisfied or very satisfied with their lives. It makes you wonder if the survey was taken after a good sleep in last Father's Day!
