I had the joy of teaching singing to some of these beautiful young people at Aorere in 2006 when they were just starting to build the choir. I might not make a lot of money being a teacher, but its rewards like this that make it so worth while!

WOW. This piece of beautiful reporting had me in tears, as I watched the amazing tutelage and inspiring work of Mr. Nice (such a fitting name for a great teacher and musician)... and his ability to bring wonderful hope and encouragement to these beautiful Aorere College students. I feel so uplifted and empowered as a Pacific Island teacher born and raised in NZ, and now living and teaching in Japan.. as I witness such love and togetherness in this beautiful college choir! Your voices are angelic and your spirit is nothing short of amazing. You truly reflect the beauty of our Pacific peoples at heart and your amazing teacher who is an amazing man, is a true inspiration to teachers worldwide. Yes, this is why we do what we do... we teach, we live, we love, we learn, we fight for our students' rights to be expressive and to always challenge their limits... thank you 60 minutes for producing this segment.. let's see a lot more stories like this please! Aorere College - keep up the amazing work! X

The Sweet Sixteen are amazing, I've seen them at several Auckland Big Sing competitions over the years as well as at the Wellington nationals in 2008, they're incredible performers and I wish them luck in getting into the nationals in 2010, to be held in Auckland (so I'll be able to see them perform! Hooray!)

Congratulations to all involved in bringing us this great story. I hope these young people keep on singing, and they are so lucky to have such a talented Choirmaster who obviously knows how to bring out the best in people. My very best wishes to the whole choir and the music you sang was just glorious!

Congratulations to 60 mi.nutes for featuring such a heartwarming item featuring Aorere College and their quest to make the finals of the NZ secondary schools choral competition. Every singer was a star and our congratulations go to their choirmaster who believed in them and produced a most beatiful sound that actually brought tears to my eyes. I hope both the choirmaster and those left in the choir next year get the success they definitely deserve. i hope this message can be passed on to Aorere College.
