The formula one season moves to Singapore next for the annual night race round the picturesque Marina Bay Street Circuit.

It is the 14th race in the 20 race season, which has been widely considered one of the most open championship races in recent years.

Ferrari driver Fernando Alonso leads the standings at this stage but both Red Bull drivers - Mark Webber and defending Champion Sebastian Vettel - and the McLaren pair of Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button are still very much in contention.

Alonso's team mate Felipe Massa currently lies tenth in the standings.

He finished fifth in the Belgium Grand Prix before securing fourth place in Monza earlier this month and will be looking for a similar result in Singapore.

He secured pole position in Sinapore in 2008, but a series of issues in the race meant that he could only finish in 13th place.

Massa believes that various factors combine to make Singapore one of the most entertaining - and demanding races of the season, with the heat, difficult track and night-time racing pushing the drivers to their limits.

He has been with Ferrari since 2005 and came second in the drivers Championship in 2008, losing out to Lewis Hamilton of McLaren in the final race of the season.

Despite this being the last season on his contract, Massa refused to speculate on his future as he continues to drive to the best of his ability for the remaining races.
