Fiji is expected to be suspended from the 16 nation Pacific Islands Forum tonight as a deadline passes for the military government to call elections.

Fiji's political situation hit crisis point last month after the president reappointed Commodore Frank Bainimarama as interim Prime Minister.

The move came less than two days after a court ruled that his coup in 2006 and subsequent government was illegal.
