We hadn't realised the scale of this until Campbell Live ran the story last night, then the emails started coming in, and we were able to piece it all together.
A 40th birthday party, two 50th birthday parties, three 60th birthday parties, three weddings, a wedding anniversary and two romantic getaways that have all been ruined by the same two people - Anita Cranston and Craig Mudgway.
If you saw Campbell Live last night, you'll know what we're talking about. If not, it goes like this:
Anita Cranston and Craig Mudgway rent out a luxury holiday home in Fiji. People pay a deposit, then the home falls through and the deposit isn't returned.
We hadn't realised the scale of this until we ran our story last night, then the emails started coming in, and we were able to piece it all together.
Let's look, for example, at a fortnight over spring:
The Moodie family is booked in from August 25 to September 11, for a 50th birthday party.
But two days after the Moodie's arrive, the Bain family is booked in for a 40th birthday.
Then the Ross family arrive, on September 3, for a wedding. That's a party of 25.
Unbelievably, on September 8, the Wallace family arrive for another wedding.
Four completely different parties all booked in the same house at the same time.
And the Moodies - who will have been there throughout this period - will have shared the five bedroom home they rented with roughly 40 total strangers.
The 12 families we've spoken to today have collectively paid Anita Cranston and Craig Mudgway $39,000 in deposits. That for a villa removed from Cranston and Mudgway by the Fijian high court.
