Police say they have made the final arrest over an armed robbery where the thieves left a coin trail because their money bag had a hole in it. The Bedrock Bar in Addington was robbed in June 2009 in what police at the time described as a "disorganised" heist.
Three masked men took 20 minutes to steal alcohol, cigarettes and up to $10,000 in cash.
Last month, police arrested a 20-year-old and a 37-year-old and on Sunday they arrested a 23-year-old, charging him with aggravated robbery.
He will appear in Rangiora District Court on Monday.
Detective Sergeant Scott Anderson of Christchurch police said on Sunday that following the robbery the alleged offenders ran from the bar.
But the money bag in which they had stuffed the cash had a hole in it and a lot of coins fell out, leaving a trail across Lincoln Road into Addington Mall.
However, the police investigation relied on forensic evidence gathered at the scene, which has been linked to the offenders, Det Sgt Anderson said.
