After playing live shows in the United Kingdom and Australia Neil Finn’s latest musical project, The Pyjama Club, is about to play two New Zealand gigs.
When you go to watch The Pyjama Club you expect Finn and his wife Sharon to be there. But unexpectedly his dad Richard showed up to share his secret to a long life.
Richard watches and sometimes features in shows all around the world this way; keeping tabs on the musical project which started out as husband and wife jam sessions.
We all know Neil, but this is Sharon’s first band after having only one guitar lesson.
But Sharon is no bit player in the band. Her bass lines are not just the foundation to songs but the starting point, which is a change for Neil after a quarter century of finely crafting songs.
The Pyjama Club plays the capital on Saturday and Auckland’s Kings Arms on Sunday.
