Fire at Te Rapa store

3News NZ

A small fire at a Spotlight store in Hamilton has been put out, but not before creating a large volume of smoke.

The fire service was alerted to the blaze at the Te Rapa store just before 8am by an alarm.

"When the first crews arrived they asked for more resources because the 60m x 20m building was heavily smoke-logged," northern fire communications shift manager Nicole Bernard told The Waikato Times.

No one is believed to be hurt, but it is unclear how much damage was done to the store. Smoke is now being cleared with a large fan.
