People rest at San Sebastian de la Gomera port after being evacuated from Valle Gran Rey on the Spanish Canary Island of La Gomera (Reuters)

Tourists in the Canary Islands could soon be evacuated as forest fires continue to burn out of control.

Thousands of residents have already been forced to leave their homes and two firefighters have died while battling the blazes.

More than 10,000 acres of land on Tenerife and La Gomera have been destroyed.
